Meet The Town Council

I spent my formative years growing up in Minnedosa, but spent most of my working career in the Labour Relations field with the City of Winnipeg.  After retiring as the City’s Manager of Labour Relations in 1997, I operated my own Labour Relations Consulting business until 2006.

In 2005, my wife Cheryl and I returned to Minnedosa, where we have both been active in a variety of community affairs. 

Our beautiful valley community is a wonderful place to live.  I look forward to working with the many groups and individuals who help to make it that way, and I relish the challenge of realizing the potential that we have to be an even better place to live, to work, to play and to do business in.

I have resided in the Minnedosa Area all of my life. I am married and have a grown daughter and son.

This is my first term on Town Council although I have served previously and gained experience as a Councillor with the R.M. of Saskatchewan.

I am the Chairperson of the Protective Services Standing Committee of Council and I am a member of the General Government Services Standing Committee of Council.

I represent Council on the Minnedosa Veterinary Services Board, the Minnedosa Foundation and the Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District.

I look forward to serving the citizens of Minnedosa over the next four years.

I was first elected to Council in 2006 and returned by acclamation for a second term in 2010.

I was born in Minnedosa and raised on the family farm near Basswood.

I am married to Brian and we have two grown sons; Darren and Trent.

I retired from the RBC Financial Group in December, 2009.

I am the Chair of the General Government Services Standing Committee of Council and I am a member of the Public Works & Utilities Standing Committee. I represent Council on the Minnedosa Regional Library Board, the Minnedosa Foundation, and the Minnedosa & District Health Foundation. I am the Chairperson of the Minnedosa & Area Community Development Corporation.

This is my first term serving as your Councillor and I look forward to the challenges of making our town a choice community in which to live and raise a family.

I purchased a home in Minnedosa and moved back to the community in 1996. I am currently employed at The Husky Ethanol Plant in Security.  My mother lives with me and I have a sister that also resides in town.

I sit on the Protective Services, Planning & Development, and the Recreation & Cultural Standing Committees of Council. I represent Council on the Minnedosa Centennial Handivan Board, the Service to Seniors Board, the MCCC Hall Board and I am one of the Town representatives on the Tanner’s Crossing Planning District Board. I also sit on the Spruce Plains Justice Committee.

I was first elected as Councillor in 2002, was re-elected in 2006 and acclaimed for my third term in 2010.

I am married with 2 grown daughters and I work at the Minnedosa Credit Union. We lived in Minnedosa from 1983 to 1998 and moved back to the community in 1994.

I am the Chairperson of the Planning & Development Services Standing Committee of Council and I also sit on the General Government Services and the Public Works and Utilities Standing Committees of Council. I am the current Deputy Mayor and I represent Council on the Community Complex Board of Minnedosa, the Community Archives Committee and the Tanner’s Crossing Planning Board of which I am the Chairperson.

Garry MacDowall is serving his 2nd term (due to a bye-election). Garry is married to Judith; he is a father of 3 and a grandfather of 5. Garry has served as an active community volunteer and served on several Committees and Boards since coming to Minnedosa 9 1/2 years ago. Garry is a retired Anglican Priest; currently an honorary Assistant at St. Mark's Church in Minnedosa.

This is my first term on the Minnedosa Town Council. I look forward to the challenges that this brings and I appreciate the opportunity to serve the citizens of our community.

I have lived in Minnedosa all my life. I married in 1977 and my wife and I raised our two daughters here.

I was employed with the Town of Minnedosa until I retired in August of 2010.

I am the Chairperson of the Public Works and Utilities Standing Committee of Council and I am a member of the Recreation and Cultural Services Standing Committee of Council. I represent Council on the Minnedosa Recreation Commission, the Minnedosa Golf Club, the Evergreen Environmental Technologies Board and the PR355 Road Committee.
